Resumen
Introducción: Con el aumento de la longevidad y la disminución de la función física, psicológica y social de los ancianos, es fundamental comprender las condiciones sociodemográficas y de salud que contribuyen a la fragilidad.
Objetivos: Analizar el perfil de fragilidad de los ancianos en una unidad de salud del norte de Portugal e identificar su disposición a incorporarse a un programa específico.
Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal con 173 ancianos domiciliados en una Unidad de Salud. Como instrumento de recolección de datos se realizó una encuesta telefónica, que contenía datos sociodemográficos y de salud y el índice de fragilidad de Tilburg (TFI).
Resultados: Muestra predominantemente femenina con una edad media de 81,11 años, mayoritariamente casada, con varias comorbilidades y polimedicación. La representación de la fragilidad fue del 60,7%, con esta condición asociada significativamente al género, estado civil, número de enfermedades crónicas, polimedicación y salud autopercibida. Para la mayoría de los ancianos (83,8%), la condición de fragilidad se ve influida acumulativamente por dimensiones físicas, psicológicas y sociales.
Conclusión: La fragilidad es una condición prevalente y el perfil se asocia a un conjunto de características en las que es posible intervenir, frenando la progresión de la fragilidad que se produce con el envejecimiento.
